All of our horse jumps start with the best possible board stock available. Dressed 4×4 Douglas Fir timbers are cut to length for each desired height.  We use precision fit jointing for our feet, securely affixing them to the 4×4 posts using counter sink holes, and 4″ carriage bolts. This secure groove and double bolt system helps to reduce rocking and minimizes shift over time with use. Our cross arms are fit in a similar way to add more rigidity to the entire standard. Exterior deck screws secure the crossarm to the standard’s upright. If a cup system is desired, that is installed, and when it isn’t we drill both posts for flexibility in use. Holes are drilled every 3″ from 18″ off of the ground to 18″ from the top. As a final attention to detail, we tap each pin’s hole with an expansion bit for easy cup transitions.
